Being able to provide your patients with hassle-free, paper-free admissions could be the new wave in marketing. United Payors and United Providers (UP&UP), a new company based in Rockville, Md., will act as an intermediary between non-HMO healthcare payers, such as indemnity insurers, self-insured employers and health care providers, mostly hospitals.
It gives patients credit cards that would allow the consumer to just say "charge it." The firm enters into contractual agreements designed to produce cost savings and help both sides conduct their businesses more efficiently. The service hopes to make doctor's visits easier by devising a health plan identification.
Each time the patient uses the card, UP&UP will pick up a fee and distribute it to the correct sources. (301/548-1000)
