A longtime veteran of the cable TV industry, Ellen East has risen to the pinnacle of the PR discipline. As EVP and chief communications officer of Time Warner Cable—the second-largest cable operator in the U.S.—Ms. East reports to and consults directly with the CEO. This proverbial seat at the table is the holy grail for PR, where communications and business goals are inextricably intertwined.

Whatever the issue, Ms. East is the chief communicator for Time Warner Cable. And, as PR News sister brand CableFAX has reported, she's had plenty of messages to get out over the past year—whether it was an unprecedented blackout of CBS programming, CEO Glenn Britt’s retirement or the cable operator's response to Superstorm Sandy.

Ms. East oversees a staff responsible for national media relations, issues management, product communication, public policy communication, employee and leadership communication, community relations and corporate philanthropy.

Ms. East joined Time Warner Cable in October 2007 from Cox Communications, Inc., where she served as vice president, communications and public affairs. She is a perennial honoree in CableFAX's annual list of the Most Powerful Women in Cable.
