Top Women in PR 2014: Julia Labaton

Julia Labaton, President, RED PR

Julia is one of the first women in PR to pioneer “nails as a fashion accessory,” making professional manicures a runway stable since 1996. The recent nail industry boom is often attributed to this ongoing high-profile exposure. Julia has run her own award-winning firm for nearly fifteen years, transforming beauty companies into recognized brands. From her interning days at CBS News to her first taste of the fashion world doing PR for Vogue magazine, Julia has not just grown her understanding and craft for dynamic public relations, but has also grown herself as a respected woman in the New York Business industry.

Julia was tasked with building brand awareness for Morgan Taylor Professional Lacquer. Her goal was to define and grow awareness after the brand’s launch in 2013 of 100 nail polishes. Julia developed a strategic platform around fashion. It included contracting an influential spokesperson, developing alliances with over 30 leading American fashion designers, publishing runway manicure trend books. Through consistent media events and outreach based on manicure trends tied to the fashion runways, editorial results in 12 months were 950 placements with over 993 million impressions.
