Top Women in PR 2014: Jennifer Thompson

Jennifer Thompson, President & CEO, Thompson & Co. Public Relations

Starting out as an intern at Bernholz & Graham PR in 2001, Jennifer worked her way up to president by 2006, and in 2009 purchased the company and made it her own thriving agency. She is not only passionate about empowering her staff to help build a successful agency, but also in creating a workplace that allows for work life balance. She is a devoted wife and mother, who makes time for family meals, homework supervision and family bonding vacations.

Jennifer has led the public relations efforts for the State of Alaska tourism office since 2006. While her team has worked with NBC’s Today show producers on several projects, Jennifer spent years plotting with the show’s special projects producer to highlight Alaska in a bold, beautiful way. In 2014, NBC’s Today show shot live from Mendenhall Glacier with Natalie Morales on site all morning. Jennifer led the production from start to finish, including scouting, story angles, itinerary coordination for the crew and all coordination for the taped segments featured during the live shot. In addition, she managed local Alaska press around the event, ensuring the client received credit for putting the spotlight on Alaska tourism. In total the project resulted in over 100 million impressions.
