Say What?

There's something to be said for self-deprecation, and the PR firm Bob Gold & Associates was just having a little fun when it invited journalists to a swamp tour in the
Louisiana bayou with a fax that read, "Stop talking to the snakes in PR! Come meet some real ones at the NCTA [National Cable Television Association] in New Orleans!"

No word on how cable insiders felt about that inference. But seriously folks...it ain't good PR for the PR industry when members of the clan conjure up nasty old clichés just
to buddy up with reporters.

"We were just making fun of ourselves," a Bob Gold spokeswoman told us. "We know we have a reputation." At this rate, it's a reputation that may be harder to shed than snake
skin. Studies have proved that PR does influence what journalists think.
