REPORTERS STILL LIKE MAIL, FAX

October 7, 1996

A majority of reporters in New York State prefer receiving news releases by fax or snail mail, even though the great majority of them have Internet access, a survey by the New York State Bar Association (NBSBA), Albany, suggests. Nearly two-thirds (61 percent) of the 38 print journalists responding to the NYSBA questionnaire said they prefer fax or snail mail. Only 14 percent of respondents prefer delivery by e-mail alone. More than one-third listed their preference for news release delivery as "fax alone." For the study, NYSBA contacted 170 journalists late last summer. (NYSBA, 518/463-3200)
