PRSA Honors Silver Anvil Award Winners; Edelman Tops List

On June 5, the Public Relations Society of America held an awards gala to recognize outstanding PR in 1996, with Edelman PR claiming the top honor for its crisis communications efforts on behalf of Odwalla Inc. in connection with reports that its apple juice was tainted with the E-coli bacteria. Edelman was singled out, according to PRSA, for quickly restoring Odwalla's reputation and market share through intensive communications that targeted the media, consumers, retailers, employees, health departments and investors. In total, 48 Silver Anvils and 43 Silver Anvil Awards of Excellence were presented.

PR NEWS congratulates the winners.
