Jim Weber, most recently special assistant for legislative affairs and special associate counsel to President Clinton, joined Ketchum PR Jan. 2 as senior vice president in its Washington, D.C. office.

Gte promotes greisman: as vp, corp. Communications

Harvey W. Greisman has been appointed vice president, corporate communications, for GTE Corp., Stamford, Conn. Greisman, who most recently served as the company's vice president, international public affairs, filled the VP slot on Jan. 1.

He will head GTE's corporate and business-unit public affairs and internal and external communications in the United States and overseas. In addition to the appointment, Greisman has been named a member of the executive leadership committee.

Kittner named to national advisory board for tech. Center

Ben Kittner, president of the Raleigh, N.C.-based high-tech PR firm TechKnowledge, has been named to the national advisory board of the new Maricopa Advanced Technology Education Center, Phoenix, Ariz.

MATEC recently received a $4.5 million National Science Foundation grant to prepare curricula for semiconductor manufacturing and related industries and to develop programs to use in colleges. The board will provide the center with PR assistance and guidance on national policy issues and concerns.
