As quality-of-life issues become more prevalent in the workforce, one marcom company is looking at holidays in 1997 in a new way: Stamford, Conn.-based Marquardt & Roche is allowing its employees to select what 11 holidays they want from a list of 22, including the employee's birthday.

Company president Howard Meditz said the firm's precedent-setting decision reflects the "religious and cultural diversity" in today's society. (M&R, 203/352-0134)
