- Peter Debelke jumps from director of PR at Burson Marsteller Europe to a new position as director of communications for Rockwell's European
region.
- Ian Fraser becomes director-corporate communications at Alterna Technologies Group, Inc., a Calgary-based Internet company specializing in liquidity,
cash and treasury management solutions. Fraser jumps from SWIFT, a Belgium-based global financial communications company, where he was head of PR.
- Amy Miller joins Equipment Leasing Association in Arlington, Va., as VP communications and publisher of the association's magazine, Equipment
Leasing Today. She leaves the post of director of news and information for the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.
- PR Newswire promotes Michelle Savage from director to VP of investor relations services. Lawrence Thomas is promoted from director of
new media to VP of multimedia services.
Agency Moves
- Hill & Knowlton hires Betsy Freeman, former president and senior consultant for Futurevision, Inc., as senior managing director of its
Reston, Va., office.
- Jennifer Grace is promoted from VP to chief client officer, a new position, at The ProMarc Agency. She now leads strategy development teams.
Deborah Pain jumps from VP to the new position of chief knowledge officer, handling client research and measurement.
- Ketchum Dallas hires Reese Heft as VP, investor relations and Nancy Nuzzo as VP/account supervisor. Heft is a former securities lawyer
who last served as VP institutional sales with GroomeCapital.com and VP, private placements/equity with Deloitte & Touche Corporate Finance Canada. Nuzzo joins the agency's
Dallas offices from Ketchum New York, where she previously worked on consumer product accounts.
- Golin/Harris International appoints Melissa Skolfield SVP and director of its DC Healthcare practice group. Skolfield previously serves as
assistant secretary for public affairs at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
- Mike Sockol leaves executive director post at Brodeur Interactive to join Makovsky & Co. as SVP and head of the agency's interactive
practice.
- Jeff Cohen leaves Infotech Strategies in DC to join Ketchum/Pittsburgh as VP/group manager of its technology practice.
- Mary Bartholomew, regional managing director, Golin/Harris Europe, retires after 30 years in the PR business.
- Horst Teltschik, an expert on international business and politics, signs on as adviser to Edelman in Germany. Teltschik will advise Edelman clients
on global strategies. Edelman also adds Jonathan Wootliff to its ranks as managing director of the Global Non-Governmental Organization practice in Brussels. William
Reihl is named VP and head of Edelman's Atlanta-based consumer marketing practice. Julie Creed is named senior VP and group head of the firm's Chicago-based reputation
management practice. She held previous I/R posts with Buzz msp, inc. and The Financial Relations Board.
- Alexander Ogilvy adds Marguerite LaRue, Kari Walker, Melissa Dennis and Christian Pinkston to the executive management
team as VPs. The following staffers are promoted to director-level posts: Debbie Fitzgerald, Cindy Huff, Usher Lieberman, Heather Lindemann (all in Denver, respectively),
Randy Johnson (Dallas), Diane Petek (San Francisco) and Maureen Ranney (Los Angeles)
- Fleishman-Hillard appoints Maria Verven VP to serve medical and financial clients.
- Donna Hamilton is promoted from business manager to chief financial officer/partner at the Chicago-based b-to-b firm Slack Barshinger & Partners.

- Deen + Black PR promotes Channa McNiel to VP with management responsibility for the California firm's technology practice.
- Athlon Communications Inc., a marketing communications firm, appoints Liz Reinertsen-Garger VP. Garger formerly was director of client services and

- Steve Knipstein and Christopher Short have been promoted to SVPs at Cushman/Amberg Communications in Chicago.
- Steve Rose joins Hullin Metz & Co. as EVP. Rose formerly served as director of media relations for the United States Surgical Corp.
- Bailey/Gardiner Creative Communications Inc. appoints Aaron Heir public relations director.
- Shipley Associates, a Wilmington, Del.-based advertising and public relations firm, names Larry Nagengast VP for public relations. Nagengast
was previously a reporter and editor for Wilmington's News Journal.
- Elizabeth Taylor joins Pollack PR Marketing Group as group supervisor. Taylor oversees the management of several accounts and assist with business
development.
- Marcus Thomas, an advertising and public relations firm in Cleveland, appoints Michele Ewing as VP. Other promotions include Roger
Frank, to VP and associate creative director, Tom Martin, to VP and media director, and Jim Sollisch, to VP and associate creative director.
- Morgan&Myers, a Waterloo, Iowa-based communications firm, names Pat McCord senior counselor.
- Tamra Bentsen finishes the race as as a longtime staffer for the Komen Foundation's Race for the Cure and joins DC-based Susan Davis
International as VP managing special events, public affairs strategy and grassroots outreach.
