A customized Internet program is arming executives at Tenet Healthcare with the kind of strategic marketing information needed to make targeted business planning decisions.
Last month, Tenet renewed its contract for The MEDSTAT Group's Inforum healthcare planning and marketing information for a three-year period. The contract is a result of a Web-
based system Tenet and Inforum collaborated on to expedite information sharing among Tenet executives at its 112 acute care hospitals nationwide.

The system allows marketers and planners to:

  • review historical patient data to understand utilization patterns;
  • analyze the market position of individual facilities to anticipate competitive challenges;
  • estimate overall market size to determine current market share and growth opportunities;
  • forecast demand for healthcare services and assess service gaps; and
  • understand local market demographic characteristics, insurance coverage and service usage.
