MIDDLEBURG SURVEY FINDINGS:

  • 60 percent of the nearly 3,000 respondents say their publications can be accessed online;
  • Photos and camera-ready art, along with electronic images, are preferred. Slides are only preferred by about one in 10 editors;
  • Newspapers, which tended to keep their newsrooms separate at the start of the new media age, are increasingly linking their new media and print sides. Operations are completely shared in more than half of the surveyed media outlets.
