Summer's here and the time is right-- to build PR ties to the most popular markets for remodeling homes.
For the biggest bang for you buck, forget about hitting the places where people live on top of one another like New York City and Chicago.
Instead, hit the smaller cities like Philadelphia, Detroit and Milwaukee as well as greener pastures like Albany, N.Y. Some of the other top spots for remodeling include
Arizona (Tucson); Baltimore (a coastal city); Dayton, Ohio; Kansas City, Mo; and two major hubs in Texas.
And while it may be an era of diminishing circulation for some consumer publications (Reader's Digest, TV Guide), not so for magazines that cater to house and
home.
Although Meredith Corporation's Better Homes and Gardens (7.6 million circ), the mother of all shelter titles, doesn't qualify as a home-improvement magazine,
several of its knock-offs do, including Better Homes & Gardens Do It Yourself, Better Homes & Gardens Remodeling Ideas, for a total circulation of nearly 2
million (see chart).
