McCurry MD of New Venture

Former White House Press Secretary Mike McCurry is managing director of a new venture, The Public Strategies Group, the brainchild of government affairs and lobbying firm Public Strategies, Washington, D.C., and strategic communications firm Public Strategies, Inc., Austin. McCurry left the White House Oct. 1, but hadn't announced his professional plans at that time. (PR Newswire)

PRSA's Int'l Section Honors Foster

Lawrence G. Foster receives the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Section of the Public Relations Society of America. Foster is renowned for helping Johnson & Johnson manage its Tylenol crisis, a case often cited as a litmus test for effective crisis management.

Foster now is a consultant. He retired as corporate VP of Johnson & Johnson in 1990, having first made his mark there when he came on board in 1957 to form the company's first PR department. (PRSA, 212/460-0310)
