Email Options Influence Physician Choice

More than one-third of consumers are more likely to select a physician who offers electronic communication options than one who doesn't, according to a national poll by
LaurusHealth.com, the online health resource developed by VHA Inc.

Of those who email their physicians, 90% find it valuable and convenient. Another 3% say it is necessary in maintaining a strong physician/patient relationship.

The electronic offerings that are most appealing to patients include online access to:

  • Appointment scheduling (49%);
  • Test results (37%); and
  • Patient records (28%).

The survey is based on a telephone poll of 1,000 adults nationwide.
