2015 Rising PR Stars (corporation and association): Sarah Stipicevic, Press Secretary, Peter G. Peterson Foundation

As Press Secretary at a prominent, non-partisan foundation, Sarah Stipicevic deftly operates at the intersection of media relations, policy development and reputation management.

At the Peterson Foundation, Stipicevic is the day to day point person for national, regional, local and digital media. She has created effective media strategies around major foundation developments, including the foundation’s annual Fiscal Summit, a prominent day-long conference in Washington DC that draws the nation’s leading policymakers, which succeeded in not only garnering coverage of the event itself but in spurring conversations with influencers in Washington; and the successful launch of a new organization focused on healthcare cost and quality, the Peterson Center on Healthcare.

Stipicevic’s unique and challenging role includes communicating around complex fiscal and economic issues, which can be driven by external developments and are not always at the forefront of policy news. She excels through cultivating long-term relationships with journalists across the media landscape who rely on her to keep them updated and educated on significant policy developments and the way that the nation’s fiscal health relates to the economy.

Stipicevic, 27, works closely with foundation founder and Chairman Pete Peterson, 89, on a range of thought leadership and communications projects. In February 2015, she coordinated a successful media tour and rollout for Pete’s new book and she routinely works with top level policy and political media outlets, recently placing an op-ed in the print version of USA Today.
