Nonprofit PR Awards 2015: Website

Winner: American Association for Cancer Research

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is the oldest and largest scientific organization in the world focused on every aspect of high-quality, innovative cancer research. The AACR’s last website redesign was completed in 2005. Since the launch of that website, the Association’s programs have expanded dramatically, rendering the site’s architecture obsolete.

The redesign of AACR’s website focused on improving the user experience, easier navigation of the site leading to increased discoverability of content, compatibility with mobile browsers and sought to increase opportunities for content promotion. During the first three months of the redesigned website increased pages per user session by 14 percent, duration of user sessions by 13 percent and decreased the bounce rate from 59 percent to 52 percent, when compared to the previous year.
