2014 PR People Awards: Corporate Social Responsibility Leader

Winner: Ichiro Kawasaki, Associate Director, Leadership Communications/Corporate Responsibility Communications, KPMG US

Ichiro Kawasaki has made a significant impact on KPMG’s visibility relative to the firm’s corporate responsibility efforts. As an associate director in KPMG’s corporate communications group, he works closely with senior leaders of the firm to strategize and implement communications support of its largest and most meaningful CR programs.

Over the past year, Kawasaki has raised KPMG’s CR profile through securing consistent, high-visibility coverage of its chairman, CR leaders and people. Kawasaki’s efforts have yielded broadcast and print opportunities nationally and in KPMG priority markets.

Kawasaki comes to the office each day with one intention—to do the best work he can possibly do. He is often asked to drive projects that are new to the firm and therefore there is no road map. In these cases, he is creative, open minded, rigorous and responsible.

Kawasaki spearheaded communications efforts around The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Earlier this year and in conjunction with the PGA, LPGA and NBC, KPMG announced the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Debuting in 2015, this groundbreaking tournament and event program is dedicated to the development, advancement and empowerment of women leaders, on and off the golf course. Coverage was secured in top-tier outlets, including the Associated Press, Reuters, New York Times, USA Today, CNBC Squawk Box, MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Fox Business, The Golf Channel and more.
