Andy Lack, president and COO of NBC, needs to coach his assistant on employee and investor relations. The busy media exec's staffer recently spent nearly $2,500 to fly an
intern from Washington to Los Angeles to hand-deliver Lack's BlackBerry, a handheld organizer which he had left at the Four Seasons Hotel before boarding a flight to LAX. The
Washington Post reported the gaffe with this note, "A priority overnight FedEx costs around $30. NBC, like the other networks, has been forced to tighten its belt in the softening
economy, including laying off nearly 600 employees when NBC absorbed its Internet portal NBCi." Talk about sending a mixed message.
