2012 Digital PR Awards: Online Newsroom

Winner: ConranPR -- ConranPR Digital Newsroom

Responding to the realities of a 24/7 news cycle, ConranPR’s Digital Newsroom was created to provide a resource for easy access to new and information for journalists on deadline. The agency wanted to not only provide a one-stop shop for journalists, but present the news in an up-to-the-minute fashion.

The ConanPR Digital Newsroom provided users with a live Twitter feed, access to archived press releases and slide shows featuring clients. To provide services to reporters and bloggers, the site was designed to provide access to background information without having to go through the usual, annoying sign-up and registration process.

Radio interviews and podcasts, another must-have for reporters, were added as the goal was to generate more than enough content for journalists to produce stories about their clients. In order for this to be a success, the winning team of Gayle Conran and Everett Potter partnered with Resort Technology Partners of Vail, Colo., whose track record demonstrated a keen understanding of the demands of public relations.

The Drupal content management system was chosen because of its ease of use, which gives ConanPR a feeling of control over the site. The digital newsroom has been a success for ConanPR as major stories have appeared in the New York Times among others in the six months since the launch.
