  • Americans' feelings about airline safety remain optimistic in spite of the recent Air France Concorde crash, according to Gallup research. Only 21% of respondents in the
    latest poll said they were frightened all or most of the time during flight, while 47% of respondents espoused no fear of flying. "These figures are similar to a decade ago, and
    suggest that the occasional airline disasters in the news over that time period have not been enough to shake the public's basic confidence in air travel," Gallup analysts
    surmise.
