As Electric Industry Changes, Some Companies' Brands Grow Stronger

As deregulation plays out in the electric industry, Charlotte, N.C.-based Duke gets high marks for presenting a strong brand image during an era when many power/utility companies are riding the image roller coaster. A new study by Delahaye Medialink reveals that Duke received the highest score of 3.22 (compared to Unicom which netted a 0.92) based on media analysis.

Delahaye Medialink looked at more than 4,300 print and broadcast, trade and consumer news stories to uncover which power companies are presenting "a consistent image to a larger audience."

The probe took into account a range of variables, from visibility to spokespeople. The report is part of Delahaye Medialink's licensed InfoTrend technology which provides qualitative summaries of companies' communications. (DM, 603/431-0111)
