2015 Top Places to Work in PR: Aflac

Few brands are able to develop as iconic a mascot as the Aflac Duck. Though it took years to develop, the communicators in the Aflac’s PR department continue to come up with creative and engaging ways to keep the Duck, and the brand, in the cultural lexicon. PR News recognized Aflac’s PR team for doing just that by awarding them a 2015 Social Media Icon Award for building the Aflac Duck’s Facebook presence. The team successfully positioned the mascot as someone customers would willingly invite into their lives. Work like this can only be accomplished within an organization that not only lets its employees exercise their creativity, but also fosters and retains top-tier talent. All of this is made possible by the diverse perspectives of its workforce, which is made up of 67% women and 44% minority employees. And in 2013, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change recognized the company for its diverse workforce.
