WHO’S MORE GIVING?

When it comes to giving the ultimate gift, men are doing a lot more of it than are women.

Statistics from the United Network for Organ Sharing indicate that 62.3 percent of donors are men compared to 37.7 percent who are women.

This type of split holds true for all single organ donations kidney, liver, pancreas, heart and lungs. The number of women who donate both heart and lungs narrows the gap, however, moving the sexes to within 10 percentage points of each other (45 percent of women vs. 55 percent of men).
