WEPR Gives Nod to Corporations for Good Deeds

It may be difficult to impress Wall Street with selfless acts, but corporate reputation is top-of-mind for many customers today so altruism can be a definite brand-booster.

After a decade of "scrutinizing corporate America for socially responsible behavior," Women Executives in Public Relations just honored six new campaigns, proving that giving back to communities (even the ecosystem) is a driving force for those in business.

Honorees are:

  • Allegheny Area U.S. Postal Service for promoting organ donations;
  • AFC Enterprises for building houses for the poor;
  • Exxon, with Fleishman-Hillard, for helping save tigers from extinction;
  • Prudential for encouraging young volunteers;
  • Avon Products, with Bragman Nyman Cafarelli PR, for encouraging breast cancer awareness; and
  • Showtime Networks for teaching New York school children to express themselves through video productions.
