Say What?

Weird headlines do work. Case in point: a release announcing the opportunity to "Go to Bed Between the Lions" got our attention immediately. As we read on, we were
relieved to discover that the message was meant not in a Russell-Crowe-Gladiator or Catherine-the-Great-animal-fetish sorta way. Rather, in the spirit of childish whimsy, the
home fashions company WestPoint Stevens, Inc. has licensed the rights to develop a line of sheets, pillow shams and comforters based on the PBS children's program, "Between the
Lions," which aired last spring. Take this as a lesson in wordsmithing: it is possible to craft a release that stimulates the imaginations of multiple audiences -
including wide-eyed young whippersnappers and perverse, old journalists.
