New Features

New York State of Mind. Next month the New York Daily News will introduce a free, evening paper to fuel the news cravings of the city that never sleeps - and, many
pundits observe, to keep pace with Metro, a similar evening paper launched in Philly earlier this year that could conceivably have stretched its legs farther up the East Coast.
The Daily News Express will be distributed during rush hour at key commuter hubs such as Penn Station and Port Authority, featuring short news pieces and heavy graphics. Daily
News veteran Brian Moss will head up the editorial team on the new venture. (212/210-2100)

Working the Web. The publishers of Working Woman magazine are hoping to tighten their bond with the nation's 60 million working women and 9.1 million women-owned
businesses with a more powerful online resource. Last week, WorkingWoman.com kicked off phase one of a comprehensive online portal offering tools to help women find jobs, launch
entrepreneurial ventures and bolster their management savvy. Site content is enriched via strategic partnerships with e-businesses such as Barnes&Noble.com, Investorama and
more than 10 others, but the site also features articles from Working Woman and Working Mother magazines. (212/445-6311)

Female Vibe. Despite the untimely death of its sibling hip-hop title, Blaze, Vibe is back in vertical market mode. In October, parent company Miller Publishing plans to
introduce Home/Girl, a sistah publication targeting female hip-hop aficionados with fashion, beauty, travel, sex, finance, health and style articles. The new title will kick off
as a semiannual supplement to Vibe, but publishers hope to increase the frequency if the content strikes a chord with the ladies. Vibe's executive editor Mimi Valdes (formerly
editor-in-chief of Blaze) takes the reins as editor-in-chief of the spin-off. (212/448-7300)
