Civilization Crumbles. Worth Media, publisher of Worth magazine, is putting an end to Civilization, the award-winning magazine it bought from the Library
of Congress in 1997 and promptly ruined by introducing celebrity guest editors whose actual editorial skills left something to be desired. Publishers say the brand may be
reintroduced in some form at a later date. Like Pompeii? Maybe its heyday is just over.

Rise of High-rises. The publishers of Hotel Business magazine launch HotelBusiness.com, a portal for the hospitality industry, targeting owners/developers, hotel
managers, analysts, brokers and investors. Headed by executive editor Shannon McMullen, the site features hospitality news and archives from the print magazine - along with a
cacophony of world news (from the wires), stocks, sports, weather, hospitality job listings, real estate opportunities and other perks geared toward making the URL a one-stop
resource for hospitality bigwigs. Pitching opps seem limited to breaking news about hotel chains.

DotContinue. Apparently dotcom deflation in the marketplace hasn't squelched expansion plans inside Chief Executive Group,
publishers of Chief Executive magazine. In January, the group will introduce dotCEO, a bimonthly title for CEOs of Internet companies, covering finance, marketing,
technology and management issues. Christine Larson will serve as editor.
