First Person: Ashley Dos Santos, Senior Director of Comms at Ticketmaster

Ashley Dos Santos loves to be inside consumers' heads, and as senior director of communications at Ticketmaster, this passion is a big plus. Since 2016, Dos Santos has worked to educate consumers and key industry stakeholders about Ticketmaster’s commitment to enhancing the live event experience for fans. Together with the global communications team, she has dramatically expanded the organization's engagement with media both proactively and reactively to increase transparency and evolve the brand's narrative from established industry leader to a self-disrupting technology innovator.

Ashley Dos Santos

Prior to joining Ticketmaster, Dos Santos served as vice president at Edelman and Ogilvy PR where she served as a strategic lead and day-to-day counsel for consumer and corporate clients. A proud Angeleno, she braved the harsh New Hampshire winters to graduate from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Women & Gender Studies and Romance Languages.

And she's got a secret dream to make her own wine in her own vineyard. Perhaps in retirement!

Here is Ashley Dos Santos, in her own words:

My first job in PR was: I did special events and communications at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

I chose PR because: I love exploring the psyche of consumers, figuring out what messaging and campaigns will resonate the most on an emotional level and shaping strategy around those insights.

If I weren’t in PR, I’d be: A sommelier while saving to buy my own vineyard.

The last great business book I read was: Essentialism by Greg McKeown – it’s had a significant impact on how I balance my work throughout the day.

The best personal advice I’ve ever received was: If it’s not for you, let it go and God will provide another path.

The best advice I’ve given is: Never get complacent, always push yourself outside your comfort zone in the constant pursuit of personal growth.

If I could solve one big challenge for communicators, it would be: Creating a foolproof formula that showcases the positive financial impact of PR on businesses.

The last vacation I took was: I’m in the midst of wedding season so my life is not my own. But very much looking forward to spending NYE in Cartagena this year!

The technology I can’t live without is: My DVR. Need it to keep up on General Hospital and Ellen every day ?

The technology I could certainly live without is: Drones.

My dream three dinner guests would be: Ellen DeGeneres, Michelle Obama and my Grandmommie so she can meet them both too.

And I’d serve them: My grandmother’s fried catfish (+ a veggie option for Ellen).
