Eye on Public Affairs

A growing number of public affairs executives are gaining a seat at the table with CEOs, according to the latest report issued by the Foundation for Public Affairs. Nearly two-thirds of the 223 PA execs consulted in the "State of Corporate Public Affairs Survey" said that they now provide forecasts on political and social trends to senior management. More than half said they report directly to the CEO, chairman or president.

In keeping with overall communications trends in the strong economy, public affairs strategists are using extra dollars to outsource non-core functions.

Nearly half of respondents reported an increase in outsourcing over the last three years. And a majority (59%) are now allocating 6-25 percent of their budgets for outside agency services.
