2015 Rising PR Stars (corporation and association): Catherine Anderson, Manager, Corporate Communications, Apple

Catherine Anderson is a public relations professional with a passion for raising awareness around important health initiatives. She has a strong work ethic, is highly motivated, and is focused on efficiency, precision and accuracy.

Previously (until this past August), she led public relations for Boston-based telehealth startup, American Well. Before that, she worked as a media manager at the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program, telling the stories of Iraq and Afghanistan vets seeking help for PTS and TBI.

With stiff competition from other telehealth startups, Anderson, while at American Well, dominated the media industry with over 50 percent media share for 2014 and 2015 and clips resulting in a reach of over 100 Million for Q1+2 in 2015. Top stories appeared in national outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.  She also established strong ties to local media, including The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Boston Herald, NECN TV, and BostInno.

In order to truly beat out the competition, however, she went beyond the typical press release and effective relationship building/media pitching tactics. Using social channels like Twitter, Anderson sought out relationships with top analysts and Forbes contributors like Dan Munro, Dan Diamond, and Vivek Wahdwa, to establish American Well executives as go-to thought leaders and legitimate interviews for columns/ stories.
