Top Women in PR 2014: Virginia Devlin

Virginia Devlin, Founder and President, Current Lifestyle Marketing

Virginia founded Current in 2006 with a single client and strong passion to connect brands with consumers in new ways. This passion led her to a seat on the board of the Council of Public Relations Firms, which is the only US trade association for PR firms. Today, Current is a multi-million dollar agency that has prospered thanks to her commitment to building long-term client partnerships and creating a top-notch work environment. With a team of 50, she fosters collaboration across five offices to deliver award–winning work for The Clorox Company, General Mills, PepsiCo and Samsung. An active client counselor, team cheerleader and employee mentor, Virginia regularly participates in brainstorms, planning meetings and client events, while ensuring hard work is balanced by a healthy dose of fun.

Allstate worked with Current to produce the Protect it or Lose It Campaign, which sought to raise awareness of the importance of documenting and protecting the value of items in your home. Virginia led the team to win the business in a competitive pitch, and supported the account with strategic and creative oversight. Spokesperson Kristin Chenoweth anchored the effort, which included a microsite, mobile game, 10-city grassroots tour and media relations. Segments on The View and Watch What Happens Live broadcast key messages nationwide, contributing to more than 50 million earned media impressions. The grassroots tour reached thousands of consumers directly, while the mobile game saw more than 300,000 game plays, making it one of the most successful gaming efforts in Allstate history.
