CSR Awards 2015: Workplace Innovation

Winner: Time Warner Cable — TWC Eyes and Ears AMBER Alert Initiative

Time Warner Cable (TWC) and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) announced a bold partnership that leveraged TWC's network infrastructure that helps them deliver service to their customers to also notify their technicians of AMBER Alerts in real time. With this partnership, TWC offers NCMEC the broadest reach of any corporate partner, mobilizing 18,000 techs in 40 states that have been specially trained to be vigilant and contact law enforcement within seconds of each alert.

Time Warner Cable has an ambitious long-term plan to continue to test and expand this program. Their long-term goal is to develop standards and practices that can be shared with industry peers and other companies with large fleets. The three immediate priorities beyond continued, flawless program execution, are to develop a system that would allow their entire workforce and customer base (beyond techs in the field) to opt-in to alerts on their desktops, mobile phones and tablets, deliver preventative educational programs to their customers that strengthen their ability to protect family members from victimization and build a 12-month track record of successful execution and learnings so the company has a robust, data-rich story to tell.
