Four the past four years, Andrew Tanker has led the programmatic communications at LIVESTRONG, and was part of its PRSA Silver Anvil award-winning crisis communications team in 2013. Currently in the role of communications director, Tanker promotes the LIVESTRONG mission by providing proactive support in the areas of public and external relations, bolstering the Foundation’s publicity in its Team LIVESTRONG, fundraising, government affairs and public policy platforms.

Prior to joining the nonprofit, Tanker began his career in athletic communications working in both the professional and collegiate environments. For three years, he helped lead the media relations efforts at the Orange Bowl Committee, Tournament of Roses and put on two BCS National Championship games. As director of marketing and communications at the Austin Aztex, he constructed the team’s social media accounts and led multiple campaigns that increased attendance by 25 percent from the previous season.

The Washington, D.C., native completed his undergraduate degree in mass communications, with minors in Spanish and journalism at North Carolina State University, earned a master’s degree in journalism and electronic media at the University of Tennessee and earned his PRSA Accreditation in Public Relations in 2014.
