Current newsstand trends favor celebrity-soaked titles a la In Touch, People, Star and US Weekly, while the traditional (read: mainstream)
enterprise magazines like BusinessWeek and Fortune continue to suffer from softness in their advertising markets.
But celebrity silliness -- even Jessica Simpson must be tired of looking at Jessica Simpson -- just doesn't lend itself to business communicators.
Although B2B titles also are sucking a bit of wind ad-wise, you'll probably have better luck getting your message out through the trade titles, whose ad bases are much more
targeted than the consumer-oriented business books.
With that in mind, this week we feature a few of the top financial trades, including two that specifically cater the ever-crucial C-suite. The content in both CFO
Magazine and Bloomberg Markets, for example, focuses on the nitty-gritty of how to run a successful business, while CFO IT covers the increasingly important
nexus between the CFO and the head of IT. The geeks shall inherit the earth.
