Here's a little boost for employee morale. Nearly three-quarters of major U.S. firms record and review employee communications and activities on the job, including phone calls,
emails, Internet connections and computer files, according to a survey by the American Management Association.
"This is driven by management, productivity and liability concerns," says Eric Rolfe Greenberg, director of management studies at the AMA. "[Companies] own these tools so they
can do with them what they please. Legally they have every right to do this."
The survey also found that 38 percent of surveyed managers review email - more
than triple what it was three years ago. Suggestion: send out your resumes from
home from now on. (http://www.amanet.org)
