Winner: JLL - Connections Newsletter

JLL set out to inform, engage and celebrate employees through a relevant and widely accessible weekly publication that establishes JLL’s intranet as the go-to news source.

JLL’s teams communicate through many channels, so it needed to establish an official home for trusted JLL news. Leveraging Connect, its global intranet, was the obvious choice as JLL shifted from a “push” to “pull” environment wherein individuals are encouraged to take a more proactive role in their engagement.

Connections has been integral in accomplishing two other company goals—reducing email reliance and driving traffic to Connect—while streamlining and optimizing internal communications.

Both qualitative and quantitative metrics demonstrate Connection’s success, including a 60% open rate. Open rates regularly include 12,500 employees (a 27% higher reader engagement rate than for previous publications), and 40% of readers now access the publication from mobile devices.

JLL reduced email overload by limiting mass email distributions and leveraging Connect and its publication for a streamlined, effective approach. Major announcements are also made on the platform in order to increase its value.

An employee contest was held to name the publication in advance of its launch. Given a majority of the 500 submissions included the word “connect,” JLL knew it was on the right path. The publication was appropriately named Connections, and serves as a reflection of its namesake—JLL’s global intranet and news engine.
