Takeaways and a Special Note About PR News’ Crisis Summit in February

In each edition of PR News we highlight takeaways from se- lect articles as well as important additions to the PR News Resources Center, available to paid subscribers at: http:// www.prnewsonline.com/subscriber-resources/

You can also access the Center by clicking “Resource Center” (upper portion of the prnewsonline.com home page).

Reading the perspectives of several honorees in this month’s edition will help get you ready for PR News’ Top Women in PR Awards luncheon in NY on January 25. Should you wish to attend, don’t forget PR News subscribers are entitled to a 33% discount. For information, please visit: https://www.prnewsonline.com/go/top-women-in-pr-awards-2019/ Or contact: [email protected]

The 33% discount also applies to PR News’ Crisis Summit in Miami Feb. 27-28 (more information in the Editor’s Note below). Speaking of crisis, the February edition of PR News will contain plenty of crisis-related coverage.

A new edition to the Resource Center is a recent survey from Accenture of nearly 30,000 global consumers. Located in the Corporate Social Responsibility section of the Resource Center, the report, To Affinity and Beyond: From Me to We, The Rise of the Purpose-Led Brand, finds that 62 percent of customers want companies to take a stand on issues such as sustainability, transparency and fair employment practices.

The survey also finds that 17 percent of customers frustrated over a brand’s stance never return.

Select Takeaways

Social Media (pp. 1-3):

Use social media to find and distribute User Generated Content (UGC) to launch a product or re-launch a brand. Such stories tend to to be more authentic and relatable than brand-written material.
It pays to research your influencers so you can send them products relevant to them. This could lead to influencers using the products and creating authentic reviews.

Case Study (page 12):

Staying in touch with story subjects can lead to additional coverage. Former inmates who’ve graduated from the construction program and are leading productive lives are providing great subjects for follow-up media coverage.

Technology (page 4):

The emergence of 5G, AI and edge computing means communicators will be able to create even more highly personalized experiences for consumers. 5G’s bandwidth also means video and video streaming should continue to grow; ditto for podcasts.
