2013 PR People to Watch: Naomi Hirabayashi

Naomi Hirabayashi, CMO, DoSomething.org

With a marketing budget of zero, Naomi Hirabayashi oversees all celebrities, public relations and marketing partnerships for DoSomething.org, creating 100 million+ impression campaigns on a regular basis. Hirabayashi made Thumb Wars, DoSomething.org's anti-texting and driving campaign, one of the organization’s biggest campaigns of the year. Hirabayashi wrangled Olivia Munn to star in their PSA and be the face of this campaign to encourage young people to share "thumb socks" with their friends, that make it impossible to text and drive.

Other celebrities that Hirabayashi was encouraged to take part in DoSomething campaigns include Ryan Beatty, Cody Simpson, Bella Thorne and Harry Shum Jr. Through her relationships with AOL, Fastweb and other top teen outlets, Hirabayashi got the Thumb Wars scholarship featured on the AOL mail homepage and in total drove over 100+ million PR and marketing impressions. DoSomething.org saw over 250,000 young people sign up for Thumb Wars, saving countless lives. Hirabayashi also runs point for marketing, PR & celebs for the VH1 Do Something Awards, the annual awards show that showcases the top young world-changers.
