2016 Top Places to Work in PR: National Beer Wholesalers Association

National Beer Wholesalers Association’s (NBWA) internal culture can be described as a fun work environment; not only because beer is fun, but because NBWA likes to work hard and play hard, and employees are rewarded for hard work.

NBWA’s growth opportunities are goal-focused and positive. As part of the annual review process, each NBWA employee has the opportunity to provide a self-review, which allows them the chance to highlight accomplishments over the past year and to specify personal goals for the upcoming year. Each supervisor also provides a performance review for employees, which take into account the self-assessment provided by the employees.

NBWA's fun and friendly work environment allows for personal and professional development, and others have noticed—Washingtonian named NBWA as one of 50 top places to work in Washington, D.C. NBWA’s internal culture is a family culture, in which employees from all departments and at all levels work interactively to complete projects and achieve common goals. NBWA employees know one another well, care about each other, enjoy each other’s company, celebrate in happy times and comfort each other in times of sorrow.

NBWA—whose senior team is 57 percent female—actively supports diversity groups like the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute and the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute.
