2016 Top Places to Work in PR: GCI Health

GCI Health cultivates a work environment that rewards creativity, helps clients achieve their goals and instills a culture where employees are constantly pushing themselves to dream bigger and do more for their clients and colleagues.

To help foster a culture built on achieving greatness, GCI Health offers highly experiential and hands-on experiences that relate directly to the transforming, diverse and highly regulated world of healthcare communications. As local boundaries disintegrate and GCI Health expands its global footprint, it’s essential that all employees have an understanding of the regional nuances that color effective communications around the world. To that end, GCI Health is now in the second year of an “Exchange” contest with its London office. Interested staff have the opportunity to pitch senior management on why they should be chosen to spend two weeks (all expenses paid) trading seats between London and New York.

GCI also launched its first New Business Boot Camp this summer. The boot camp was designed to elevate everyone’s comfort with—and love for—new business and introduce its new, formal methodology and resources for new business activities. The first session was an all-day training followed by a fun group dinner. The second session was a half-day mock pitch, where five teams responded to a RFP with 30-minute mock pitches, and participated in a ten-minute Q&A with the clients (senior management). The winning team received a prize.

In an industry that is 70 percent female, yet with only 30 percent of women holding top positions, GCI Health's leadership team is 80 percent women.
