Aflac is among the most diverse companies in America. In fact, its workforce is comprised of a high percentage of both women (67 percent) and minorities (40 percent).
In addition to employer-sponsored health care benefits and employer contributions to employees' 401K funds, Aflac offers the largest on-site child care facility for any company in the state of Georgia. Aflac's "imagination station" cares for 300 children daily. Aflac offers an employer-funded pension program for most of its employees, on-site exercise facilities and the Aflac Cancer Policy.
Since 1995, Aflac has provided $107 million in contributions to the Aflac Cancer Center for children’s cancer in Atlanta. In addition, Aflac provides regular bus transportation for employees to travel to Atlanta (100 miles from its Columbus, GA headquarters) to volunteer at the cancer center.
Aflac erects a house annually for Habitat for Humanity in four of its locations (Columbus, GA; Albany, NY; Omaha, NE; and Columbia, SC), wherein employees are permitted to use official work time to volunteer. In 2015 the company logged 2,000 hours of volunteer time among its employees.
In 2015, Aflac opened the Career Success Center, which is a full-time, fully-staffed office geared toward advancing employees' careers. Roughly 24 percent of employees who use the service receive either a promotion or find a new and rewarding career path.
