Winner: Takeda Pharmaceutical - “Take Pride” Float at Boston Pride Parade
Takeda Pharmaceutical recently launched a U.S.-based diversity and inclusion council, whose focus is to develop key initiatives that embrace its employee’s point of view and create a more collaborative and supportive team environment. To celebrate unity and show support for the LGBTQ community, the Global Oncology Business Unit of Takeda Pharmaceutical partnered with Takeda's diversity council to participate in Boston’s signature Pride Parade alongside Boston Pride, a non-profit organization that strives to achieve inclusivity and equality by fostering diversity and unity through educational and advocacy programs.
Research has shown that nothing drives home the message of inclusion more powerfully than simply exposing diverse groups to one another. By providing the opportunity for its employees to join forces with the Greater Boston and LGBTQ communities, employees we encouraged to share their voice and to become agents of change to help advocate for equality and inclusivity. There were two components to the company’s involvement with the Boston Pride Parade: designing and populating a float for company employees to participate in the parade, and hosting a “cheer zone” where allies and other employees could celebrate the participants as they walked the parade route. Over 200 employees, friends and family members participated in the Boston Pride Parade, sending a unified message of support to the LGBTQ community.
