2014 Rising PR Stars: Sam Nathews

Sam Nathews, Communications Manager, Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility

After receiving a promotion in 2013, Sam Nathews of the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility, began supervising three internal colleagues and 33 individuals across nine agencies. Sam’s sharp wit and great sense of humor coupled with his seemingly endless mentoring makes him one of the most engaging employees at FAAR, even CEO Ralph Blackman has picked up a thing or two from Sam.

Sam was responsible for the year’s anti-underage drinking campaign, which featured PSAs with Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler, and garnered 5.6 million media impressions. Even after Gansler was engulfed in a scandal surrounding pictures of him at an underage drinking party, Sam was able to insert the Foundation’s message into segments on the Today Show, ABC World News Tonight, CNN and Associated Press.
