Scripps Health
Scripps Health is nationally recognized for its wealth of unique benefits. Of particular note, is the Wellness program that is designed to create and maintain a healthy workforce while reducing health plan and workers’ compensation expenses. The program provides resources, education, screenings and an integrated approach to good health. As an incentive for participation, employees can also earn points for participating in activity challenges that can result in a discount on their health plan premium equal to the employee receiving free health insurance for a year.
Scripps is committed to attracting, hiring and retaining a very diverse and multicultural employee population. Because of the cultural diversity of the company’s hometown of San Diego, it is important that its employees reflect and understand the patient population. As such, the Scripps employee population mirrors San Diego County. At 49%, almost half the employees are people of color, including 25 percent of all managers and executives.
There is also a great spirit of celebration and caring that engenders camaraderie and fun among staff. For example, Scripps hosts an annual Scripps Night at the Ballpark at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. With 12,000 tickets sold, the annual event is one of the most popular celebrations for Scripps employees. Employee pride in the organization is high, as evidenced by a 2013 Great Place to Work Survey score of 92 for the question “I’m proud to tell others I work here.”
