Winner: MWWPR's Matter More Training Sessions
It’s not enough for MWW employees to just matter to their clients—they’re invested in making all of their employees “Matter More.” MWW is committed to their employees’ professional growth and wants them to develop a long and successful career at the agency. As a result, they identified the need for a number of internal professional development initiatives that would provide their employees with the ongoing training, education and inspiration they need to succeed.
Being in the client service industry, MWW realizes that client work often comes first. It can be tough for their employees to attend mandatory meetings or commit to any sort of learning session far in advance. Besides, they don’t want employees to feel like they have to do something; rather, they want them to be willing to learn. The agency decided a university-based class structure would best fit their professional development initiatives—that way, employees can pick and choose which sessions they want to attend based on interest level and scheduling availability. MWW identified an opportunity to bring in creative individuals from different fields to learn about what inspires them and how their ways of thinking can be applied to the work that they do on a daily basis.
Incorporating both live and online training by internal and external presenters, mentoring, roundtables and learning resources, Matter More University programs were designed to play a pivotal role in sustaining the firm’s high level of client service and enabling the staff to develop their careers. MWW has hosted sessions with photographers, actors, chefs, writers and more. In 2014, there were 25 sessions with an average of over 70 percent of employees attending each session.
