2013 PR People to Watch: Allison Fried

Allison Fried, Manager, Internal Communications, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)

Since joining the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) in 2006, Allison Fried has been developing new and improved PR tools for exhibitors to maximize their media coverage at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Fried spent the first six years of her career focused on exhibitor PR, enhancing the experience with the Exhibitor PR Kit, highlighting all PR opportunities, important deadlines, key contacts, awards programs and more at CES; planning and managing CES Press Day; and creating the “30-Second Exhibitor Press Pitch Video” campaign in 2011, offering exhibitors the opportunity to promote their latest products via a short video clip to registered CES media and analysts.

In 2012, Fried received the staff-nominated CEA quarterly spotlight award for her stellar management of the 2012 CES Press Day event. She was promoted from PR specialist to international communications manager the same year, expanding the CES Unveiled series of pre-International CES press events and working with PR agencies around the world to identify new markets. She has expanded the number of countries involved in the CES International Media Scholarship program, which allows qualified international journalists in the tech space to travel to and attend CES on a scholarship from CEA. Fried has also managed the International CES promotional video project known as CESTV for the past six years. What started out as a small video series devoted to spreading key information and educating CES attendees prior to CES, has transformed and expanded to the well-known, two-part series consisting of a multi-segment, pre-CES video program as well as on-site exhibitor videos.
