Clifford Leaves New York Daily New for PR Post in Manhattan

Tim Clifford, former Washington, D.C., bureau chief for the New York Daily News, has left the print news business to join the Manhattan PR firm of Robinson, Lerer & Montomgery, where he will serve as senior vice president.

Clifford told PR News he was looking for a "new kind of challenge" and wanted to live and work in New York. (Clifford, 212/484-6100)

From Politics to Private PR

Carl Golden, director of communications for New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, will leave public politics behind when he joins DKB/Holt & Ross, an advertising and PR firm in Morristown, N.J., Jan. 1. PR Practitioners Rack Up Awards

  • Lou Rena Hammond, president of Lou Hammond & Associates, New York, was named Nov. 17 recipient of the La Tribuna Distinguished Women of 1996 Award.

La Tribuna, the oldest Hispanic newspaper in New Jersey, presents the annual award to women who have made contributions to their communities. Hammond was one of 16 awardees this year. (Lou Hammond & Associates, 212/308-8880)

  • Diane Perlmutter, chairman of the Burson-Marstellar U.S. Marketing Practice, received last month the Young Adults Institute's 1996 Media Leadership Award for achievements in the communications industry.   • Advertising, marketing and PR firm RMR & Associates' Robyn Sachs was among 40 businesspeople who received kudos from the Washington Business Journal as a top "40 Under 40."   • Washington Women in Public Relations named Beverly Silverberg, president of Beverly R. Silverberg Communications, the 1996 PR Women of the Year. Silverberg, who heads the Hyattsville, Md.-based communications agency, was chosen for her more than 25 years of dedication to the communications field as well as her efforts in the Washington, D.C. area.
