Brown Receives Spirit Award; Pierce Recognized by PRSA

  • Pamela Sawchuk Brown, founder of Sawchuk, Brown Associates, a PR and public affairs strategy firm in Albany, N.Y., received the "Spirit of the Chamber" Award from the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce. This is the first time the award has been presented and Brown is being honored for her work in marketing and communications.
  • Jonathan Pierce has been given a Presidential Citation by the Public Relations Society of America of Albany for revitalizing the regional chapter of PRSA. Ludgate Acquires Bromley Group

Cerrell Appointed to Task Force

Public affairs consultant and Italian-American activist Joseph R. Cerrell has been appointed to the California Italian-American Task Force by California Governor Pete Wilson.

The task force is a 15-member committee appointed by the governor and members serve on a volunteer basis. Cerrell serves on the board of the National Italian American Foundation and is chairman of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce West. (Cerrell, 213/466-3445)

Bergen Elected Chairman of Institute of PR Research

John D. Bergen, senior vice president of corporate relations for Westinghouse Electric Corp., New York, has been elected chairman of the board of trustees of The Institute of Public Relations Research and Education, University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla. Prior to joining Westinghouse, Bergen was president and CEO of GCI Group for Grey Advertising, New York. He is a West Point graduate and a Vietnam combat veteran.
