Pitch Tips

News Desk Insight. Todd Spangler, a correspondent for the Associated Press in Pittsburgh, gave guests at a recent PR Newswire event an inside perspective. He's in a
staff meeting from 9-10 a.m. Since more than 120,000 words cross the AP wire in 24 hours, Spangler suggests limiting the word count and jargon in your press releases. Also, if
your story is breaking news, call him to let him know how the release was sent. Telephone, fax, email and wire services are all valid ways of getting your news to him. The fax
machine is checked each time something comes in and email is perused twice a day.
